报告摘要:The atomic nuclei offer one of the most fascinating research fields in which fundamental questions on systems ranging from the microscopic world to the universe can be addressed. Sophisticated
methods and powerful techniques are needed to unveil the secrets of the microscopic systems, which have been developed in research laboratories and are continuously improving. To use, control and develop new techniques and methods of investigation of the nuclei, profound knowledge of the properties of materials, of electronics, of computing, as well as of the interaction of the particles and radiation with matter are necessary. In the present talk I will synthetically describe the main properties of atomic nuclei, the employed instrumentation and some specific applications of the techniques to the study of matter. Highlights of some nuclear structure studies will also be presented.
